Chris McCarry

Chris joined UNE in August of 2024 from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia after making a post-pandemic career change into higher education in 2021. He serves the Graduate and Professional students on UNE’s Portland Campus for the Health Sciences. Having navigated two career transitions before entering higher education, he believes strongly in the value of educators from varying backgrounds, especially in specialized and technical fields. Taking advantage of skills and experiences that are not commonly found in the higher education workforce can open up an array of opportunities for creativity, flexibility, and student-focused service.

Chris is committed to the distinctive needs and experiences of graduate and professional students in the health sciences and believes in the need for strong, coordinated services to support their academic success and holistic wellbeing.
