Urgent dental care appointments

Inclement Weather

When we are experiencing inclement weather conditions, information regarding business hours will be posted to our social media sites or you may call (207) 221-4747 and follow the prompts. The Oral Health Center hours may vary from the University during a delayed opening and we encourage you to check before traveling to our clinic.

Urgent Dental Care for Non‑Patients

If you are not a patient at UNE’s Oral Health Center and have an urgent dental need, we offer an Urgent Care Clinic during regular business hours. Patients should plan to spend up to half a day at the clinic.

The Urgent Care Clinic is a first‑come, first‑served walk‑in service that prioritizes urgent dental concerns. When possible, treatment is provided. In some cases, treatment may not be possible and patients may be referred to another healthcare provider or asked to return to the Oral Health Center at a later date.

The Urgent Care Clinic evaluates the following conditions:

  • Severe pain
  • Signs of infection
  • Facial or oral swelling
  • Broken, chipped, or cracked tooth
  • Loose or knocked out tooth
  • Uncontrolled bleeding
  • Mouth sores with severe pain

The following services are not provided through the Urgent Care Clinic:

  • Dental cleanings
  • Repairs or replacement of dentures, crowns (caps), bridges, and implant crowns/dentures
  • Clearance to begin orthodontic treatment
  • Clearance for medical procedures
  • Teeth with minor chips
  • Screening of patients looking to establish comprehensive care

Patients who access the Urgent Care Clinic with non-urgent needs may be prohibited from using the service in the future.
